The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander’s Prydain

A 1965 children’s novel from the author’s Chronicles series. A short review reads:  “I read this story out loud to my young boys. We enjoyed the tale greatly. Alexander has a great way of succinctly telling a tale while giving just the right amount of background to fill your mind with unlimited scenery. As an adult many of the plot twists were foreseen, but my children were gasping and curious the whole way through. It’s a classically wonderful coming of age tale I highly recommend to all adventurers of heart.”
